Inti Punku or “Sun Gate” is the architectural passageway along the Inca Trail leading up to sacred Machu Picchu. During the Summer Solstice the rising sun can be viewed as it passes through the Sun Gate each year. This is also the first site visitors can see the entire sanctuary which was constructed in honor of the Sun god.
